Everything is set for next Sunday’s Going Electric event in Newport – a free-to-attend showcase of electric transport in all of its forms.
The event is being held at the Isle of Wight College and will feature not just Electric Vehicles (EVs), but vans, bikes, drones, charging infrastructure and more, together with talks from leading experts on many aspects of the electric transport revolution.
Going Electric is the first to bring together leading providers of electric transport all in one place including the Island’s largest ever EV motor show with all the leading main dealers taking part such as Harwoods, Leslies Motor Group, Premier Motors, Esplanade, Staddlestones, Snows and Central Garage, with the latest from Ford, MG, Kia, Suzuki, Toyota, Hyundai, Mercedes Benz, VW, Volvo, Citroen, BMW, Mini, Renault, Nissan, Peugeot and more.
A dedicated e-Bike zone will provide the perfect opportunity to see the latest in e-Bikes and talk to experts from WightBike, Isle Access and People Powered, plus you can try an electric bike on the dedicated test circuit. Another popular area will be ‘Meet the Owner’ – a great place to meet EV owners and their cars and ask questions about their day-to-day use of EVs and how they fit into their lives.
On display will be the latest in EV charge points from Green Mile, Island Renewables and dcbel plus experts will be on hand from Vehicle Consulting and EV Express, together with Future Isle of Wight, LoCASE and the Isle of Wight Council to discuss any aspect of EV ownership, infrastructure and the island’s plans for a greener future.
Innovation in electric vehicles and design will be led by engineering specialists MedTec and design company NOSY where you can take apart in their Net Zero Gameshow. Leading IT and technology company PC Consultant will be showing ‘Starlink’ from SpaceX and giving you the chance to take control of a Telepresence Robot. Whilst specialists Drone Inspect will have the very best in drone technology and be providing drone displays throughout the day.
If that’s not enough, you can take your seat in the Seminar Room to hear talks from leading experts. Talks that look at Electric Infrastructure, Owning an Electric Vehicle and Innovation in Electric Transport. There is nothing green about go electric.Look at the lithium mines around the world,we’re destroying are planet even more,just to make batteries.Then you have to charge them up from fossil fuel power stations!so how is this green.ITS A BIG FAT LIE!!!!
The vast majority of people are not going to buy electric cars, unless electric charging cables are allowed across pavements !!!! Also producing the electricity and batteries are no ‘greener’ than using fossil fuels.
The POINT people are being fooled upon is the Government know that masses of people will not be buying an electric car, and HMG know that there isn’t enough charging points.
They don’t want everyone driving. That IS the point.
IF they did, they would insist by law every new build had to have charging points fitted.
The Government know that with a huge population, IF everyone drove a car, then roads would be gridlocked.
So the idea is to make car ownership difficult and expensive.
Then, only the ‘better classes’ will drive private cars.
The plebs will have driverless battery cabs, ordered/paid for via phone
Agree, IF we lived in a fair society, There would be one car only per household.
