The Island’s bus operator Southern Vectis are once again running a comprehensive bus service throughout the Isle of Wight Festival.
Festival-goers will be able to travel on the operator’s buses directly between the site and special shuttle stops at Newport, Ryde, Cowes, East Cowes and Yarmouth.
Matt Kitchin, Southern Vectis general manager said:
“We’ll be running services from early in the morning of Thursday 11 June at regular intervals until the afternoon of Monday 15 June.
“With thousands of visitors expected to enjoy the music on offer over the course of the Festival, our team will be pulling out all the stops to make sure they’re able to make their way here and back quickly and in comfort.
“Working closely with festival organisers, we’re keen to encourage people to leave their cars behind and have the chance to immerse themselves in the magical atmosphere here – without having to worry about how they will get home.”
After each night there will be frequent shuttle services from the Festival bus station to destinations across the island – including all main towns. Buses will depart the Festival bus station at regular intervals until 02:00.
One highlight for those travelling by bus during the course of the weekend is the addition of a London Borismaster.
Speaking about the unusual trip to the Island for the Routemaster, Matt said:
“We’re including this bus as a tribute to Fender – one of the main sponsors of the Festival – and it will be covered in guitar images.
“It’s very distinctive, and normally runs route 24 through the heart of central London. People will have the opportunity to see it out-and-about on all five days.”
The shuttle service leaves all ferry ports on the island at various times and can be purchased from ticket sellers at the stop. For the full timetable and information about fares, visit www.islandbuses.info.
