UPDATED: Homes and businesses in and around the Newport area are suffering from a lack of water this afternoon (Thursday).
A burst water main has resulted in a total loss of supply, or reduced pressure, for hundreds of properties.
Southern Water say they have a team on site repairing the burst and that water supplies should return to normal within 3 hours from 14:50. The burst is said to have occurred at Bishops Way on the industrial estate.
Customers are advised that they may notice some discolouration or low pressure at first; this is completely normal when there’s been a disruption to the supply and is only temporary.
Southern Water apologise for any inconvenience caused.
UPDATE @ 18:15 – Southern Water have confirmed that an 18-inch main has blown on the industrial estate in Newport, close to JR Zone.
Bottled water is now being handed out at Buckberry Lane and Long Lane.
