A body has been found in the search for Charlotte Mullen, who went missing from Sandown on Wednesday.
Police, HM Coastguard and WightSAR have jointly been searching for the 32-year-old since Thursday afternoon, with efforts relocated to Culver Down this morning.
Sadly, the body of a female has been found at the base of Culver Cliff this afternoon.
The search has now been called off following a recovery operation involving Bembridge RNLI.
Family and friends have been informed of the discovery and have taken to social media to express their condolences.
Formal identification is yet to take place, but her next of kin have been informed.
The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.

Poor, poor girl, rest in peace. So very sad.
So sad.
Bless her
So very sad,may she find eternal peace in the arms of the angels.
Very sad..RIP
Heartbreaking , rest in peace ❤️ So sad
A troubled girl, how tragic, she is someones daughter, my heart breaks for the family
RIP sleeping with the angels
So so Sad so tragic R.I.P
My heart goes out to her family and friends. My sister also died there in 2014.
A truely sad and tragic outcome. It’s too bad that it takes the report of this poor womans death to inspire some sympathetic posts instead of some of the vile and hateful comments posted on this site during the search, bearing in mind that her desperate family and friends might also have been reading them.
Well Said.
well said, Charlotte was a lovely girl, she spent many hours in my home when younger as went to school with my daughter, i was disgusted at some of the post’s i have been reading
Plenty of sympathy here for her, but never saw any on the thread about the poor Asian man found dead at East Cowes.
RIP so sad
So so sad rest in piece Charlotte sending all my love to the family at this sad time xx
Just so sad, poor thing
Bless her ❤️
Bless her ….so sad, that whatever the circumstances, her life should end in this way ….RIP Charlotte….My thoughts are now with your Family & Friends
So sad r.i.p x
She was a very troubled young lady, may she now be at peace. X
God bless her loved ones..
Very sad. Wonder if she couldn’t get the help she needed at this time. Seems a lot of various departments aren’t operating normally but things like this are so important as this poor girl has proved. Rest in peace. Thoughts with family and friends
How awful 🙁 thoughts and love sent out to her family
A tragic ending that probably had her standing on that cliff edge, crying and thinking about how she ended up there and how she couldn’t see any other way back.
Every single one of us, will be at a low point in our lives for one reason or another at some point – the actions we took, the words we used and the consequences we felt will have all lead us to dark places – most of us have an option or another route out – Charlotte clearly felt she didn’t have any other option.
Turning and facing life can sometimes be harder and we do not know how many times Charlotte had the strength to turn and face life in the past, however, this time she couldn’t do it. This was the one time she needed someone, anyone.
Only 32 – first 16 years at school – probably full of excitement and feeling the pull of the future – the second 16 years – a few wrong turns, a few bad choices, probably not much luck and full of despair and feeling the resentment of the future.
Take care charlotte – I never knew you – however, more of us know you today, even though it is too late.
RIP.
A very poignant reflection on how Charlotte was probably feeling, lovely
Thankyou julie
I must say that people state she was troubled, the blight of her future was handed down to her, this is very sad, we used to say when I was young some people were born with a silver spoon-how very true and for this poor soul she probably never saw a spoon.
I’m truly devestated that someone of this age whatever back ground can end there life this way…..
I hope and prey she’s feeling piece right now
it could happen to so many people at the moment it is a really hard time for anyone suffering with any type of mental illness, especially if you are on your own. She once was a innocent baby, life changed her. dont judge, you never lived her life . So very sad.She didnt have ONE person to go to x
Very true Tracey.
Samaritans are at the end of the phone 24 hours a day to offer emotional support for people who are distressed and suicidal. So sad that this time the Samaritans signs strategically placed around Culver weren’t enough to prevent this tragedy.
Samaritans confidential, free phone line: just dial 116 123.
RIP darling
Rest in peace Charlotte. Condolences to her family and loved ones x
I hope the vile people that wrote horrid comments sleep well tonight! How very very sad ☹️ there is always a bigger story behind these things….. xxxxxx
Yes very very true.
Where are they now? RIP poor girl.
Well I have not seen one vile comment about her, so any there were must have been removed. All I’ve seen are comments talking about her like she was the purest angel who ever lived.
The report of the body found at East Cowes, of a dead man, had a bit of sympathy in the comments, but then in a follow up, where it was reported he was a smartly dressed Asian man, the comments were puerile, with a few “lol”s at the end, Disgusting how some persons can get loads of sympathy for some reason, while others get none.
so sad – there hasn’t been one vile comment posted here and none have been removed either.
I think you will find that the difference is that there has been a name and a face, plus people know Charlotte, whereas the other guy is at present unknown.
Well why were so many people going on about vile comments, or vile people leaving horrid comments? All i’ve seen are sympathetic comments, so i wondered what vile comments so many people were talking about:?
And the puerile comments left about the Asian man had been removed last time i looked, so they do remove comments here.
They’ve all been removed. The name-calling during the search for Charlotte was indeed vile. Rest in peace poor girl.
they were posted on the other news item when she first went missing. – and then removed.
So sad, for whatever your reason may you now RIP sweetie x
So sad rip
Dont think it was lack of respect, but maybe made sure the name was right
Fly high princess ✨❤️✨

How sad.
God bless her soul and thoughts with her family and friends at this devastating time. And thoughts with WightSAR and the other emergency services too as I know this will affect them too bless them. You do a good job and thinking of you all always xx
Such sad news. RIP charlotte . Thoughts are with your family x
I went to school with Charlotte such a Shame she was so chatty an nice at school sending love an prayers to her family an friends ☹️
So sad , So many young people taking they’re lives, When there are so many that can help, If only they would ask , I’ve been there myself on that bloody cliff when I was 19 and it’s the loneliest place in the world in every sense… And sadly for some it’s the hardest place to walk away from, And so many people left asking ……..why.?
This is incredibly sad, my condolences to family and friends. Poor woman
R.i.p poor girl thinking of her family friends another failed by the system
The Mental Health team has let down this young lady when she obviously needed help. They are too guick to judge people by their lifestyle instead of giving love and support.
God bless you darling, hope you are at peace.
Even though I didn’t know Charlotte she looked like a lovely young women that was taken to soon R.I.P Charlotte Mullen ❤
This is unbelievably sad ..such a lovely girl , Charlotte I hope your demons are at peace go live with the angels darling xxx
