The body of a man was found at an address in Newport this morning (Tuesday), with the matter now being referred to the Police’s Professional Standards Department.
Officers were called to a residential property on Staplers Road, opposite the former Polars site, to reports of a concern for the welfare of a male at 09:36.
Detectives from Newport CID spent most of the day at the address alongside response and patrol officers, who forced entry to the property.
Inside the property, a body of a male was discovered.
The death isn’t being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.
The matter has been referred to the Professional Standards Department due to prior Police contact.
