The Isle of Wight’s MP, Bob Seely, spent the morning learning about the work of Royal Mail’s postmen and postwomen today (Tuesday).
Bob paid a visit to the delivery office at Riverway, Newport to get a behind-the-scenes insight into how the Island’s post is received, sorted and delivered to thousands of homes and businesses each day.
Following the depot tour, Bob headed out on the road with local postie Shaun to help him with his daily rounds in Newport.
Taking to Twitter, Bob said of the experience:
“My thanks to Royal Mail for delivering great work. They get my stamp of approval!”

On a sunny day, not so good in wind, cold and rain
Be fair, wind, cold and rain are not ideal working environments for anyone – who wants soggy mail?
and the point of that was what?
perhaps he should be dealing with more important matters, such as demanding that the council get the bins emptied every week, the roads repaired, the police out and about, actually pounding the beat instead of hiding indoors and making sure that the council spend as little as possible at all times. He should be working to ensure the council provides rebates to council tax payers, instead of them wading through council tax payers money, like a hot knife through butter on exotic holidays, dressed up as fact finding trips.
He needs to get to westminster and lobby parliament to ensure that all council refuse tips are free and open at all times, which will remove the fly tipping problem in one day.
He has far more important matters to attend to, instead of spending his day quaffing tea with the posties and then having a leisurely stroll around town in the morning sunshine.
I’d just like my postman to put the right letters in the right doors..
God knows how many times I have had to repost wrongly delivered mail back to the rightful address.
And we all thought that Andrew Turner was a waste of space. Sorry Andrew.
On a quiet day, on one of the easiest rounds too.
Saint Bob rides again, trying to restore faith in the broken political system eh!
