The driver of a BMW is being sought this evening (Tuesday) after ploughing into 2 parked vehicles in Lake, shunting 1 of the cars up onto a garden wall.
The incident occurred at just before 16:15, when witnesses heard a load bang and saw a car speeding away from Fairview Crescent along Lake Green Road, with significant pongs of weed coming from the vehicle.
The car’s front tyre had deflated, with sparks flying off.
It’s now known that a blue Y-reg BMW E46 coupe smashed into 2 vehicles causing significant damage – a Mini One has been shunted 90 degrees and up onto a garden wall.
Amazingly, no one has been injured in the incident but the innocent vehicle owners have been left facing insurance excesses.
To add to matters, although Police have been notified of the incident they have not yet responded to the scene. It’s claimed by the vehicle owners that Police said they would not be attending as no one has been injured and the road is not blocked.
1 fire appliance from Shanklin is on scene, however, having come across the incident after dealing with a medical emergency in nearby Rose Way.
UPDATE – Island Echo understands the BMW has been located near to Manor Road and has now been recovered by Police, who attended the scene some 2 hours after the collision.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has been approached for a statement.

But a crime has been committed !!!
Our police are not listening, it’s now free for all….and the lowlife know it..
Not attending that is a joke!
I can’t wait to see the excuse the police give on their Facebook page
The line in Tesco Express was long.
I have absolutely no faith in our police, have they given up? or on strike?…our roads are full of drugged up lowlife drivers, why isn’t anything done about it???..
Why do we pay Council tax
Mate, the police gave you years ago. Not enough of them to stop and deal with crimes they see. All they can do is deal with stuff phoned in to 999 so that they can get good reports of response times. The moment a measure becomes a goal it is no longer a good measure.
Seen police ignore people jumping lights in Newport so many times in the last ten years. Police sat in car at the head of the queue. Our lights go green and a car blast throw in the other direction. Police car does nothing and drives of as if nothing happened.
I too have witnessed the same in Ryde, Police car opposite, lights turn green I start moving and a car comes flying across, through their red light !! Police did nothing… Many drivers are doing this dangerous antic.. because Police are too busy doing ??????
Why don’t you do something about it, mr keyboard warrior?
Your Response indicates you have a very Parasitical identity…
and your response implies you’re all mouth and don’t want to fix the problems you so hate.
Too busy fapping?
He’s a copper.
Lmao……So right…..onk onk.
A serious crime has been committed, this is yet another sign that this Country and The Island need a thorough change of direction.
Perhaps the police are waiting until it stops raining before they leave the station.
I wouldn’t be surprised.
Surely as a crime has been commotted, ie; causing an accident and leaving the scene it is the Police responsibility to try and locate the other vehicle involved and also the driver / owner of the same.
Who cares if they are caught or not, even if they are caught the police will give a suspended sentence and no doubt they will be back on the roads in a matter of weeks, no real punishment in modern Britain.
Most people care, most people want justice, most people want our police to do the job that we pay them to do….it’s not a bad ask, or rocket science…
We paying the police with our council tax so I want them to do there job “Turn up you lazy lot” if not we should all get a refund and don’t you dare ask for more money this year that’s a piss take, you want more money you have earn it like the rest of us do.
Absolutely true.
IOW police or police control room ?. A serious crime has been committed costing thousands,a driver under influence and witnessed and speeding?. In our road a drunk driver wrote off his car and one he hit, clearly stinking of alcohol and staggering around at 3am and police also didn’t want to know!. Think this should be raised with that police commissioner, lives are being put at risk with police control room negligence. If police units had been deployed the culprits would have been quickly caught, flat tyre probably no head light and damaged.
Can’t be many blue Y-reg BMW E46 coupé on IOW ,police only have to run through their system or via DVLA.
The BMW has been abandoned in one of the side streets off Manor Road. Heavy front end damage and the number plates have been removed.
The new Fast & Furious movie is looking good lmao
Shame watchdog isn’t on anymore “Isle of wight police” rogue traders take our money and not do there job
Bloody Pot Head, driving under the influence is just not acceptable. So much of this nowadays. People obviously think it’s ok to drive having smoked, snorted or injected sh*te of some description!
Massive damage must have been done to the BMW. Feel so sorry for the car owners who cars have been damaged.
The police on the Island are so Lazy
At last the plod are now being honest.
They couldn’t care less.
Probably the same idiot that was driving through Yarmouth lunch time today utter knob
What exactly do our taxes pay for if the police don’t even attend a crime, which clearly this is? Thankfully no-one was injured.
So, how can the driver of the BMW be sought if the police will not attend the scene?
Those poor owners of the cars have to now pay for repair, or fork out for a new car – as chances are insurance will not pay out as they have no idea who it was.
The police seem incredibly slack!
However, I’m sure as with most public services, funding has been slashed, therefore they’re working with the skeleton crew they have ♀️
Ahh but according to that stupid wste of space Police commissioner Donna doo dah… They do an exemplary job?! Where? Not on The Island they don’t they could not give a toss!.
Well said Good driver I totally agree with you
It’s not our problem say the police. Maybe we should just save our money and get rid of them then!
What’s the point of having police!!! These poor people have not only had the upset of having to get their cars repaired excess insurance will go up so it will be all on them the financial burden but the police don’t bother to go to the scene take statements and find the culprit and bang him up in a cell before they kil someone
No comments from the police yet ? The stupid thing is they could take a statement from the victims walk 5mins and arrest the people!
JHVF is right , i assume it is leaving the scene of an accident also a public footpath is blocked ,the mind boogles !
Carry a cap spud gun the you will get every rozzer on the shift at the scene. With all the gear.
All the gear and no idea
Broken Britain!! What’s going on!! Everything seems to be falling apart in this country!! While the government still don’t listen!!
Maybe if the Police were allowed to do the job they were employed to do we would get a better response. Late last year i was attacked by my grandson who has serious mental Health issues. The police were called, they thought I was having a stroke, so there were 2 officers attending me, 2 others who put themselves between me and my grandson and 2 others calming other members of the household. They were there for at least 2 hours until the Ambulance arrived. My point being if the Mental Health Services on the Island actually functioned as it should, a mental Health Practitioner would have been able to deal with the situation, not to mention time wasted for an Ambulance to arrive for me. Then the Police could do their job.
Spot on, the Police have been cut in numbers and also taken over lots of other work which are problems they should be dealing with, mainly mental health issues.
Their job is very complex and dangerous, and we should not be criticising them for this incident, criticise the Government for cutting the Police numbers , and the resources which used to deal with the numerous social and health problems which now fall on the Police Service shoulders.
The same applies to the extra work being foisted on the Fire Service, and the Ambulance Service. Many things that they deal with are not really their remit.
The Government needs to get a grip, also the courts need to support the Police by handing out proper deterrent sentences.
This is exactly it! We are in a right mess & all Sunac cares about now is Maths! Maths is what they need right now to sort out NHS, Police,Fireservice, mental Health etc, etc. with numbers right down & more workload dumped on these services, we are at breaking point!!
Hampshire Police… have to come from mainland…. if we had a tunnel…..
They cannot afford the Ferry crossing.
Maybe the Police are using the buses… only £2 a trip… cheaper than starting their car…
Wham bam thank you ma’am
Anyone know where CM was today?
The police on the island are not lazy they are chicken shit yellow bellied cowards for proof of this if proof be needed pop down Cowes high street any evening of Cowes week and watch till a scrap kicks of by the pier view and watch all the cowardly police withdraw to Hurst’s and hide in the doorway there till the trouble is over I grew up in Cowes saw this happen every Cowes week multiple times during the course of every Cowes week that’s why these scumbags get away with it cos police are to cowardly to confront them incase they get hurt poor things great Britain what a joke need a revolution in this joke of a country overthrow the government and monarchy they are all corrupt practices bleeding us dry so they can live the rich life .
