Police have cordoned off a section of pavement outside a property in Sandown where blood splatters are evident following a disturbance in the area earlier tonight (Tuesday).
The cordon is currently in place on Avenue Road, near the junction with Fort Mews.
Officers are understood to have responded to the crime hotspot shortly before 21:00, quickly detaining at least 1 male and established a crime scene.
Slightly outside the cordon – but still of interest to Police – is a smashed glass bottle and further blood patches.
It is currently unclear whether anyone has been seriously injured and the circumstances of the incident.
Local residents have described hearing screaming and shouting at around 20:40. It’s understood Police were then called around 20:45.
UPDATE Wednesday – Police have confirmed that a woman in her 50s was seriously assaulted, as was a man in his 40s.
