UPDATED: The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are working to extinguish a fire near Porchfield this afternoon (Thursday).
Appliances from Newport and Freshwater are on scene at Locks Green, where it is understood a pile of tyres has caught light.
Thick, black smoke can be seen from miles around as firefighters work to bring the blaze under control.
No one has been injured and it is thought the fire has been contained to one area.
An appliance from Ryde has also been mobilised – thought to be en-route to Porchfield.
UPDATE – The fire has been brought under control and crews are now damping down ahead of preparing to leave the scene.
