Joe Robertson MP recently joined with Sandown Mayor Alex Lightfoot and local residents to launch The Bay Resilience Project, partly funded by a £15,000 grant from the Scottish & Southern Electricity Network Powering Communities Fund.
The Town Council previously supported a network of volunteers to deliver medicines and groceries to vulnerable and ‘shielding’ residents during lockdown, hosted an emergency drop-in Centre during flooding in 2023, and helped establish Warm Spaces across The Bay.
Councillor Alex Lightfoot said:
“This funding adds to the momentum that the Place Plan is generating in the Bay, and thanks to the local community for their ongoing support of initiatives such as painting the Promenade railings in the Summer”.
Joe also joined Alex in presenting awards to pupils in the local primary school, with their Christmas-themed designs displayed at the local library, and meeting groups at the Broadway Centre, as well as launching the Xmas Day Meal project, at Christ Church, with Rev Williams.
Talking about Sandown
Why waste money demolishing the toilet
block in Yaverland and replacing them with
new payable toilets.
So I am correct in saying, tax payers money
is paying for the old block to be demolished and
we are paying for the new block to be built
AND TO TOP IT ALL, WE THEN HAVE TO PAY TO USE
TOILETS THAT US TAX PAYERS HAVE PAID FOR IN THE
FIRST PLACE!!
