A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of affray after an incident in Newport Town Centre last night (Tuesday).
Police were called at 20:34 to reports of a male threatening people with a broken glass bottle at Newport Bus Station.
Officers attended the scene and, with the help of a dog unit, arrested a 25-year-old man outside the VI Form College on Upper St James’ Street.
He was arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon.
The suspect remains in custody.
And they want people to stop using their cars and use Buses.

As everyone knows, we are now generally unprotected on the streets, with no Bobbies on the Beat anymore – but surely in the evening in the central bus station !
Such dangers to public safety would just not happen there, where we need to access services, if there was a Police presence.

What a s*it hole this Island is becoming. A dumping ground for nonces, drug dealers, murderers, gun slingers, arsonists, smack heads, rapists and now feral brat terrorists, all egged on by interfering do gooders and hand wringers, stopping proper detarent sentencing and punishments by the courts and appropriate policing. One problem being this B/S about not being able to name this little shit ”Because of his age”. Where does it say ANYWHERE that they have to be a special age before they can be low life, all of which is encouraging and aiding and abetting more scum to follow suit.
Because the UK is now home to the worlds finest crims and the numbers growing unchecked daily, our prisons are so full that all criminals now KNOW that they won’t get a harsh jail term, IF at all.
So fear is gone, and with many on the dole, they know they have NOTHING to loose by doing just as they please.
So the Police and Courts can do nothing to jail anything but the very worst now.
We need to cull immigration and only select on short term visa all imm’s now, but we won’t as it is not the rich on public transport or in low end pubs, they travel in luxury in private cars or cabs, and have private clubs, living miles away in leafy lanes from the rubbish they happily inflict on you and your loved ones.
This is so true, so it’s time to reopen the prison that has been closed up for years, and put our scum in it, and then build a new borstal to put their feral brats in, instead of keep building free houses for the smack heads to jump on the everything for life gravy train. Either that, or we need to get vigilantes sorting out low life scum like this, either way, ordinary people should not have to be tolerating this type of scum ruining their quality of life, because no one can find the balls to deal with it in case it upsets the do gooders. THEY are not the ones getting the problem, and see how quick it would all change if it was.
Another waster. Its really pissing me off just how many drugged up, piss heads now reside on this island. So much trouble that we never had years ago. Yes it’s everywhere I know, but it doesn’t help when IOW Council allow HMO housing in our communities and they bring over and house ‘lifes rejects’ from the mainland.
The Council allow in the UK’s vile, and the UK allow in the worlds vile, so the outcome is as we see a never ending, only increasing level of ever worsening crimes on our streets.
No party will sort it now, as the P.C and race card is more powerful than any individual party and with jails filled with all comers, we can’t jail anyone for meaningful sentences EVER again.
Unpopular as frightening but true, yet NO figure in authority DARE tell the real reason for they would be driven out, so everything else is blamed.
