A caravan has been cordoned off and Armed Police have been deployed following a serious incident in Sandown this evening (Sunday).
Police are currently in attendance at The Fairway Holiday Park off Perowne Way, where officers have erected a cordon around an individual caravan.
Island Echo understands that Armed Police are responding to the incident and are currently on the hunt for a number of individuals who fled on foot and in a car.
Searches are ongoing.
There is said to be a victim, but it’s unclear if any injuries have been sustained.
The situation has been described as an ‘ongoing firearms incident’, but it remains unknown what has sparked tonight’s large scale response.
The incident began sometime around 19:00.
UPDATE @ 22:15 – Hampshire Constabulary has confirmed that Armed Police are dealing with an ongoing incident in Sandown.
A spokesperson has said:
“We can confirm that armed officers have been deployed to an incident at Fairway Holiday Park in Sandown this evening (Sunday 14 February).
“No one has been injured and there is not believed to be any threat to the wider public.
“The incident remains ongoing and we will be in a position to update you with further details at a later stage”.
Island Echo can reveal that armed officers have been stopping vehicles in Sandown in a bid to track down the wanted suspects.
CCTV footage is being reviewed locally.

I got pulled over by bmx x5 with armed police in asking who I am my mums name and who the car belongs to, thay are after a white car
A white car, yet what about the description of the occupants? Or are they ‘those’ who can’t now be mentioned or blamed. Anyone can dump the car, but we need to know what the suspects look like to inform and help the Police.
Gets more like London every day here, and that will escalate when t h o u s a n d s of h o m e s are crammed with such in to our green and pleasant Isle.

This needs to b sorted on this site there are a lot of older people living there first it was in the club house with police all there for days few months ago now this, think the owner and management need to check out who they let own and stay there b4 u get a bad name and no one will feel save to use ur park

Ladies and gents lets all be sensible here! The Police are doing their very best to track the individuals of interest down and if you get stopped or approached and questioned its no big deal! The Island is not very big and everyone tends to know everyone so just report any suspicious activity that’s it then the quicker this incident will be dealt with!
Lets all help out the island would be a better place where criminals cant survive as you have an Island with the best neighbor hood watch going

hit the nail on the head there mate they let you live there but it’s not residential? You know about the hedge fund hoppers pulling strings left right and centre
As Lake is one of the last places for potential holiday makers with no sea, or anything worthy of note, then perhaps this whole caravan site could be bought and used to house the homeless.
They could live individually from one another, so the decent ones aren’t effected by the growing amount of troublesome sharing facilities or the same building.
Then the whole area could be security fenced and monitored easily, rather than spreading these oft problem people into the better areas and nicer seaside resorts where they put off those coming here for a relaxing family holiday or the unfortunate people living close to them.
Then we can stick stars on them and start some experiments….. wait… that’s been done before ♂️
