Hovertravel services have once again been suspended as a result of the adverse weather conditions.
Despite an improvement in the weather yesterday, the Ryde-Southsea service still found itself brought to a halt due to high winds.
Today the wind has picked up once again accompanied by rain, leading to the decision to suspend the cross-Solent service until further notice.
Hovertravel says that an update is due at 10:00 but it is unclear if services will resume at this time.
Tickets are being accepted on Wightlink’s Ryde Pier Head to Portsmouth Harbour Fastcat service, which is operating as normal.
UPDATE @ 19:12 – Services remain suspended with confirmation that there will be no further services today.
The next update is expected at 06:00 on Wednesday morning.

Utterly ridiculous – you can’t blame the weather but their forecasting is so unreliable. Failing service that must be the most unreliable transport form in the world. It’s probably the reason it’s the only commercial hovercraft route in the world. It’s crap concept run by enept management
Of course you can blame the weather. Thays exactly the reason they are off.
sadly math – that is a fact lost on a lot of people.
Hovertravel have legally imposed operating limits regarding weather and tidal conditions. As soon as these are reached they are legally required to cease operation until the conditions improve. Its about passenger, crew and Hovercraft safety.
shaun – perhaps you should learn to spell “inept” first before commenting.
May I point out that they put out a weather warning yesterday, advising that cancellations would be expected today – whilst they did say from 1000 onwards, the adverse weather has arrived early by about an hour and a half, so their forecasting isn’t that bad.
sadly shaun, you have made the mistake of opening your mouth and removing all doubt as to whether you are stupid or not.
I think you should look outside
Typical TROLL comment, sounds like you need a cuddle snowflake.
It would be more newsworthy if you told us when Hovertravel were operating a service!
I bet you don’t even use the service do you?
I did, but like other cross Solent services they have become too unreliable
So, to be clear, you’re sitting at home complaining about a service that you’re not using, not operating?
No, not sitting at home, but not bothering to try to use the cross solent routes.
Don’t live on an island then.
