UPDATED: A motorcyclist has been injured at Whippingham – the second motorcycle vs car collision this afternoon (Saturday).
Traffic is reported to be heavy heading in and out of East Cowes as a result of the incident at the junction with Folly Lane.
Island Echo is told a motorcycle has collided into the rear of a Subaru Imprezza, throwing the rider to the ground.
Emergency services have been alerted to the crash. In the meantime first aid is being given to the biker.
UPDATE @ 17:10 – The main road in and out of East Cowes has been closed in both directions by Police.
Traffic heading out of the town is being diverted via Alverstone Road towards Wootton Traffic heading into East Cowes is currently stationary.
UPDATE @ 17:58 – Whippingham Road has now re-opened, however traffic remains heavy in the area.
The motorcyclist has been taken to St Mary’s Hospital, Newport for further assessment and treatment.
