A greater choice of fresh food and wider aisles await Aldi shoppers as it is confirmed both Isle of Wight stores will be closed over the next few weeks to facilitate a major refurbishment.
The Cowes store on Three Gates Road will shut at 18:00 tomorrow (Friday) for a near 2-week refurb, re-opening again at 08:00 on Thursday 10th March.
Just a few weeks later, the Lake store at Spithead Business Centre will also close for a similar but smaller spruce up. The store will close on Friday 25th March and re-open less than a week later on Thursday 31st March.
Each store will be upgraded to a new layout which means more space for fresh, chilled and food-to-go ranges. Shoppers can also expect brighter and simpler layouts with wider aisles.
Aldi opened its first Isle of Wight supermarket in Cowes on 26th September 2013, with the Lake store following 3 years later in September 2016. It was reported in October last year that the German chain is looking to set up shop in Ryde and Shanklin.
I hope the refurb in the Cowes one make it look and feel cleaner than it does now
God I really hope they put in some self-service tills, so shoppers with a handful of items don’t have to wait behind the weekly shoppers. Painful, I’ve walked out a few times.
