The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has been scrambled to a medical emergency involving a cyclist in Binstead this afternoon (Tuesday), which has led to 2 roads being cordoned off.
Police and Ambulance crews – including an Operational Commander and Enhanced Care Paramedic from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service – were mobilised to the incident on Verwood Drive shortly before 13:00.
At the same time flying doctors were scrambled from their Thruxton base, touching down at Binstead Community Centre – a stone’s throw from the emergency – at around 13:30.

Police have erected a cordon around the scene, where at least 1 casualty is receiving treatment in an ambulance.
Both Verwood Drive and a section of Binstead Lodge Road are closed, with motorists being diverted through the estate.
UPDATE @ 15:25 – The air ambulance has lifted off from Binstead and is returning to base at Thruxton, near Andover.
UPDATE @ 17:00 – Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that a gentleman in his 70s has died.

Meme, a sincere comment and one many people shared, as you will be no doubt be aware, this has not been the case, any negative reaction to your comment, has unfortunately come, due to a lack of understanding of when you posted your comment. I would like to think that under these circumstances any negative response should be retracted by the commenter.
Can you not read says he has passed away condolences to the family
Steve, to be respectful Meme wrote a comment that seems sincere and was posted 3 hours ago at that time no reference was made to a fatality.
Perhaps you should reconsider your rather pointed ” can you not read “, quite simply had you read the time of the posted comment you would have realised Meme’s comment was based on events at that time.
It is rather unfortunate that the one that cannot read is very person that is claiming Meme cannot read.
Sad news and condolences to the cyclist’s family.
