The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has landed in a recreation field in Sandown this afternoon (Wednesday) in response to a serious medical emergency in the town.
The yellow and green helicopter and its crew of medics left its base in Andover at just before 14:00 and has touched down at Los Altos Park.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service has a local ambulance crew, a St John Ambulance crew and a critical care paramedic in attendance at an address on Melville Street, close to the junction of Fitzroy Street.
HEMS doctors and paramedics have walked the length of Melville Street to join the local resources.
Police have closed the road with all traffic being diverted via Grafton Street or Royal Street.
Southern Vectis Route 2, 3 and 8 buses inbound to Sandown from Lake are diverting via The Broadway and Station Road until further notice.
UPDATE @ 15:23 – The patient has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital by land ambulance, accompanied by the air ambulance medics.
The air ambulance itself has relocated to the St Mary’s helipad.

Quite right, GIT. Who says there have been over a thousand excess deaths in the UK alone, what does ‘excess’ mean… and who says any such deaths were caused by the vaccines? It’s actually quite frightening that people can have such an inability to differentiate between fact, allegation, rumour and conspiracy theory. And if there have been ‘excess deaths, could they just possibly be the result of lack of suitable early treatment by the NHS because of the pandemic? When I ran a radio station, I had a notice put on the DJ console. It said ‘Engage brain before opening mouth.’
