The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has landed on the hovercraft pad at Ryde Esplanade in response to an incident at Western Gardens.
Police have cordoned off an area of open space to the west of Ryde Pier after an individual was found in a poorly state on a park bench.
Paramedics have been joined at the scene by the flying doctors who have flown in from their base in Andover.
The green and yellow air ambulance has landed beside the hovercraft at Ryde as the safest and nearest place to touchdown.
UPDATE @ 13:50 – The patient has been placed in an ambulance and is being conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital by land.
The air ambulance crew are now preparing to return to the mainland.
A Police cordon remains in place at Western Gardens as officers investigate the circumstances of the incident.
Hampshire Constabulary have been approached for a statement.
UPDATE @ 15:05 – A man has sustained a stab wound following an incident on Ryde Esplanade – an arrest has been made.
