The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has been scrambled to Shanklin this afternoon (Thursday) to assist with a medical emergency inside a residential flat in the middle of town.
Flying doctors landed on the school field of St Blasius Primary School at around 13:50 and are currently assisting blue light colleagues from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service on Regent Street.
2 ambulance crews and an Operational Commander are on scene and have been joined by firefighters from Ryde, who have been requested to assist in moving the patient due to a steep stairwell.
This is the 2nd time in a little over 2 months that the helicopter has landed at the Shanklin primary school, following another incident back in November.
UPDATE @ 14:55 – Emergency crews have now stood down from the incident.
The patient has not been conveyed.

Sadly that doesn’t sound like a positive outcome.
Just what is the point in making that comment? We all have opinions and thoughts, it is not always appropriate to share them with the public, and ultimately to what ends?
The outcome may be positive, just wait.
Who ever was involved I wish them the very best outcome.
Not quite sure you need 2 ambulances.
where ambulances are in short supply why no transport personnel by other means leaving ambulance for urgent care
Don’t you think that there was a reason for 2 ambulance’s? By all means comment, but by stating “Not quite sure” states the obvious, you don’t know the circumstances! Ambulances are in short supply and you think they sent 2 because they had nothing better to attend too.
There are people who comment for the sake of it, condemning emergency services of all kinds without any knowledge to circumstances involved.
stop berating people for their comments mr keyboard..the lady has a point, you have none end of..
Not sure means you don’t know,
Must have been great for the kids to see that big chopper.
I am sure that gave the patient much pleasure, knowing the kids felt great. Lets hope the patient is well and receiving the best treatment available. I feel sure that is what you meant to state.
Bloody hell Kev go and have a lie down.
Sadly the country is currently experiencing over 3,500+ excess deaths a week at present
and not a word from the PM
If an Aeroplace crashed killing 300 or more it would be all over the news.
Your point is what exactly
People are dying much quicker over past 2 years.
We all know why, well some of us do.
What with the worlds current over population crisis,, this could be a good thing,, right ?
You sound like Gates and co
