Hovertravel has been forced to suspend its Ryde-Southsea service this morning (Tuesday) due to the adverse weather conditions.
Strong winds on the Solent mean that the Flyer craft are unable to operate.
An update on the cross-Solent service is expected at 10:00 but there is no guarantee that services will resume at that time.
Tickets are being accepted on Wightlink’s Fastcat service between Ryde Pier Head and Portsmouth Harbour.
UPDATE @ 11:07 – Services remain suspended due to the weather. An update is expected at 11:45.
UPDATE @ 12:24 – Hovertravel services are to resume at 13:15 from Ryde and 13:30 from Southsea.

Why don’t you put breaking news shock horror when they are running as every single day there’s some problem and they are not
What appalling customer service Hovertravel offer to go with their disruption. As many of their cancellations are weather related, why aren’t minibuses to Ryde Pier Head not included in their disruption plan? On our trip to Portsmouth hospital we were told by uninformed staff that we could use the replacement bus service provided by the Island Line. We could not, and were told by the driver it was for train passengers and we could only board if room was left after priority was given to them. We waited in strong winds and driving rain with no shelter to be told the bus was full. We had to pay £6.50 for a taxi to take us to the FastCat. What a way fir Hovertravel to treat anyone let alone NHS patients.
