Hovertravel has suspended its cross-Solent operations this morning (Wednesday) as a result of the adverse weather conditions.
A yellow weather warning is in force for the Isle of Wight from 12:00 today, but wet and windy weather is already hitting the Island.
Hovertravel says that an update is expected at 10:45, but it seems unlikely that the Ryde-Southsea service will operate for the bulk of the day. Tickets are being accepted on Wightlink’s Fastcat service from Ryde Pier Head to Portsmouth Harbour.
Red Funnel says that its Red Jet service is likely to see disruption and possible cancellations today, but at this time the Cowes-Southampton service is running to timetable.
Wightlink has cancelled a number of its timetable sailings on the Yarmouth-Lymington route today – and again tomorrow – due to a mechanical issue, as previously reported by Island Echo.
UPDATE @ 11:20 – Red Jet services have been suspended until further notice due to the adverse conditions on the Solent.
All car ferry services are continuing as normal, as is Wightlink’s Fastcat.
