40-year-old Michael Phillips has been sentenced to 7 years in prison for seriously assaulting 3 women whilst holding them hostage at knifepoint for over 3 hours on Christmas Day.
Phillips forced entry to an address on Carisbrooke Road on 25th December 2021 whilst drunk and under the influence of cocaine.
He then proceeded to assault a woman known to him within the address, along with the woman’s mother and his partner who was also at the address at the time.
Police were called shortly after midnight on Boxing Day, and officers were told that Phillips had prevented the women from leaving before assaulting them over a period of 3 hours.
His partner managed to flee the address and go to a friend’s house, when Police were called.
The Isle of Wight Crown Court heard that during the horrifying ordeal inside the address, Phillips threatened the women with a knife, before 1 of the victims was cut on the hand.
Over the course of 3 terrifying hours, Phillips repeatedly kicked, headbutted and punched the women if they spoke. 1 of the women was kicked so hard in the head that when her head hit the wall it left a dent.
Officers attended to find the property covered in blood and Phillips was arrested.
Phillips, of no fixed abode, was charged with a number of offences which he continually denied, and the case proceeded to trial in May this year.
On 17th May, the jury found him guilty of 2 counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, 1 count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, 1 count of making threats to kill and 1 count of criminal damage.
Appearing at the same court today (Thursday), he was sentenced to a total of 7 years in prison with an extended license period of a year.
DC Jodie Parsons has said:
“This was a truly horrific and degrading period of extreme violence inflicted on three women.
“What they experienced was awful, and I am so pleased that the man responsible has now been locked up to ensure the safety of these women and others.
“Violence of any kind is not tolerated by police, and we take a particularly robust stance against domestic abuse.
“I hope this case gives confidence to other members of our community who are suffering violence at home to come forward and report to police.”

Seven short years, out in a couple, really do need to execute the worst crims and end illegals filling our country and prisons so we can make more room and allow courts to give longer sentences to our own growing number of drugged, drunk, or just deranged low life now.

He “chose” to take drugs, no one forced him – begging for help doesn’t justify his actions. He is no more entitled to the time of another human being than anyone else. Yes I agree, everybody has a choice about what they put into their body, but if he had been ordered to be properly rehabilitated as soon as his strange behaviour became apparent to the relevant authorities, years ago, then this would NEVER of happened.
Somebody who is experiencing psychosis is OBVIOUSLY not in their right mind. Sending them to rot in prison does NOT treat the ROOT cause of the problem, because when they get let out they are even more dangerous then when they go in.

I was sitting in the same room as him when he begged to be put back on his calming medication to a psychiatric worker because he felt like he was going to hurt someone.
His request was ignored and it was just brushed under the carpet.
These seriously mentally ill people need HELP, not punishment.
