Police have arrested a 62-year-old man from Ryde on suspicion of robbery following a violent incident at a petrol station on the Isle of Wight.
As previously reported by Island Echo, the robbery took place on Saturday evening at Morrisons Petrol Station off Church Litten, and resulted in the busy filling station temporarily closing while enquiries were carried out.
The arrest comes after Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary issued an appeal for information and released a CCTV image of a man they wanted to identify in connection with the incident.
Officers have now confirmed that a 62-year-old Ryde man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery.
He has since been bailed with conditions until 30th June while investigations continue.

Should know better at that age.
Sadly, it has not been my experience or observation that wisdom, moral compass and conscience heighten with the passing years, Tony. Especially in my case…
People need to act their age.
Such a crime is UNFORGIVABLE when it results in
using violence.
Full force of the law is required for such acts.
Sadly the full force of the law has been decimated by the do gooders and hand wringers
