Temperatures plummeted to -5.8c on the Isle of Wight last night according to local weather experts IW Met Service, who warn that it could be even colder tonight (Thursday into Friday).
The incredibly low reading was recorded near Bembridge Airport, with -5.5c seen on the other side of the Island at Newbridge.
It was slightly warmer – if you can say that – in Blackwater (-4.6c), Wootton (-4.1c) and Carisbrooke (-4c).
Chief Forecaster Jamie Russell says that there is another very cold night in store for the Isle of Wight – even colder than last night – with -6c possible. There may be the odd mist patches here and there.

It’s winter, it gets cold in the winter. We’ve had incredibly mild winters for years. Perhaps we might get a white Christmas this year? Now that would be nice.
