49-year-old Duane Sibbick has been charged with battery and 2 counts of using threatening or abusive words/behaviour following an incident in Newport yesterday dinnertime. Police were called at 17:55 to reports of a public order incident and assault on Cross Lane, which connects Fairlee Road and Staplers Road. It had been alleged that a man was making threats and had then pushed another man. Officers responded to the scene and, following their enquiries, Duane Sibbick, of Cross Lane, has now been charged with battery and 2 counts of using threatening or abusive words/behaviour with intent to cause fear of violence. He has been bailed with conditions to appear at Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court on 19th December.
