Bembridge RNLI’s All Weather Lifeboat, the Alfred Albert Williams, was launched on service to assist a 45ft sailing yacht with engine failure this afternoon (Saturday).
Solent Coastguard requested the launch of the Tamar-class lifeboat at around 12:15 to locate and assist the casualty vessel that was reported to be drifting approximately 350m SE of No Mans Land Fort with 3 people onboard.
Arriving on scene at 12:26, the mechanic was transferred to the yacht and successfully re-started the engine having identified that the problem was a flat battery. The yacht then headed back to Port Solent.
‘Alfred Albert Williams’ returned to the Offshore Boathouse. She was recovered by 13:15.
