Around 300 households in Newport are without water this morning (Thursday) as a result of a burst main.
Southern Water is apologising to those in the PO30 2 postcode area who have woken to find they are unable to have their morning shower or cup of tea.
It’s said that a water main has burst on Fairlee Road overnight, but engineers are already working to resolve the situation.
With repairs underway, it is hoped that supply will be restored by 08:00.
In the meantime, bottled water is available from Langton Walk on Godric Road.
Last night (Wednesday) it is known there was a planned mains isolation by Southern Water, which also affected the PO30 2 area. However, it is unknown at this time if the burst is as a result of the works carried out.
UPDATE @ 11:11 – Southern Water says that the burst is more complex than first hoped and as a result, they are still working to restore supplies.
Bottled water is being delivered to vulnerable residents, with other residents invited to collect water from Godric Road.
A 2nd water station is being set up soon – location to be confirmed.
UPDATE @ 13:52 – Southern Water has confirmed that the issue has now been fixed and that they are slowly refilling the network.
The Langton Walk water station is to remain open for the time being.

Mine went off 940 last night top of staplers….came back low pressure bit later…then went off again 8 50 today.
Luckily got my bottles delivered but so inconvenient for many im sure
So they have water all over the road which is going to freeze, great ! I hope they are going to put plenty of real grit down.
Where is the Langton water station never heard of it
