The driver of a Peugeot 206 has escaped any lasting injury after crashing into a lamp post at Whippingham.
Police were called to the scene at Racecourse Roundabout at around 06:00 this morning (Saturday) after the small hatchback smashed into the post and the side of the road.
Its remains unclear as to why the driver lost control as they fled the scene just moments after the impact.
No other vehicles were involved.
Last night another Peugeot 206 ended up on its roof following a single vehicle crash at Branstone.
