2 men accused of robbing a man in Portsmouth were arrested by Police armed with tasers on board the hovercraft at Southsea just minutes before takeoff on Bank Holiday Monday.
Police were called at 11:30 on Monday to a report that 2 men were attempting to gain entry to a residential address at Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth. They left a short time afterwards without gaining entry to the property.
A man in his 20s was at home at the time of the incident but was not injured.
It was reported that shortly before this, the same men had assaulted a man in his 20s from the Isle of Wight close to the Round Tower in Old Portsmouth. The man sustained minor injuries to his eye and lip and had his phone taken, which was later recovered by officers.
Officers attended and located 2 men believed to have been involved in the incident onboard the Hovercraft in Southsea shortly after 12:30.
A 50-year-old man from the Isle of Wight was arrested on suspicion of robbery, using violence to secure entry to a premises and possession of a controlled drug of Class B. He has been released on police bail while their enquiries continue.
A 26-year-old man from the Isle of Wight was arrested on suspicion of robbery and sending by public communication network an offensive/indecent/obscene/menacing message. He has been remanded into custody.

“We would like to reassure the public that all parties involved are believed to be known to each other and there is no wider threat to the public at this time.
“An investigation into this incident is ongoing.”
