2 men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary following an incident in Sandown overnight.
At just gone midnight this morning (Wednesday), Police received reports of 2 men attempting to gain entry to an address on Avenue Road.
Now, officers have arrested a 37-year-old man from Newport and a 60-year-old man from Sandown on suspicion of attempted burglary.
They remain in custody for questioning at this time.
Officers have been conducting door to door enquiries in the area as part of the ongoing investigation.
The incident comes just days before Christmas – a time when houses tend to be full of potentially lucrative goodies for criminals.
Low any time of year but stealing kids presents from under the tree. That’s really low.

The police do use Corollas, but I’m not aware of any on the Island. They are based on the 2 litre touring sports and have 2 litre, 184hp hybrid power plant which will see it hit 60mph in 7.6 seconds.

If you’re the victim of a burglary don’t bother trying to defend yourself, otherwise you might risk getting a longer sentence than the actual criminals
