The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are tackling a small fire at the derelict Harcourt Sands complex in Ryde this evening (Thursday).
2 appliances from Ryde Fire Station are currently on scene off Puckpool Hill after being alerted to the incident by concerned members of the public at around 20:45.
Black smoke has been seen rising from at least 1 of the empty buildings, however, it is understood the fire has now been brought under control.
The former holiday park has been sat in a sorry state for almost a decade and has recently suffered another blow with the news that developers have pulled out.
Harcourt Sands is regularly targeted by arson.
Meanwhile at nearby Pondwell Hill… Police have detained at least 1 male following a minor road traffic collision. A blue Ford Focus has collided with a bank lining the carriageway.
