2 people in their 40s have been questioned by detectives after a woman suffered injuries to her arm and torso in Ventnor yesterday (Friday).
Police were called to reports of an assault at a flat on Albert Street in the town centre at 08:51.
Officers responded to the scene alongside paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
It was soon discovered that the victim – a 41-year-old woman – had sustained what Police are calling cuts to her arm and torso. She was conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital for treatment as a result.
It has been confirmed that a 43-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman, who are both from Ventnor, have been arrested and questioned on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
They have now both been released from custody on conditional bail whilst enquiries continue.
Police have not confirmed the weapon used.

It’s a small Island so come down heavy on anyone using a weapon. Maximum sentences should be mandatory for carrying or using a knife or blade. There ought to be a trial period, with ample warning beforehand, of maximum sentencing to see if it has any effect.
TRY to ‘understand’ that COURTS can NEVER AGAIN give meaningful sentences to such, as our prisons are filled with not only OUR people but now the worlds vile, with more arriving every day.
So just because we are a small island, makes NO difference to the number of lowlife in our Prisons.
SEE the REAL but unmentionable reason why ‘weak sentences’ are given. YOU won’t read it or hear it from those in authority as they wish to keep their lucrative jobs and pensions.
So THINK for yourself, the evidence is ‘easy’ to see.
What an earth you talking about? Nearly 90% of people in British prisons are British citizens. Compare that to our nearest big neighbours, Germany and France, who have twice the % of foreign nationals in their jails as we do.
That is because Britain has hoards arriving here daily, and, as the women empty their wombs on our soil, the result is ‘classed’ as British, but as we all know, in ‘real life’, not legal jargon and fiddling the figures, a Cat giving birth in a Kennel has kittens, not puppies.
So, all depends on if you want fact, or fiction, you prefer fiction, whilst I and many others prefer facts.
Ivy, you are right, but also what skews the figures is the newcomers are inprisioned for longer sentences in France and Germany that is usual in the UK.
So they are in there for longer periods of time adding to the amount in prison at any given time, but, as you rightly say, here our prisons are over full, so our courts can’t give the sentences needed anylonger.
People sadly just blindly follow the BBC brainwashing showing such in good light, yet dropping news stories or not mentioning the countless daily issues anymore.

The prisons would be less overcrowded if the Nonces were all sent away to a remotely island and I don’t know, casterated.. hung or something, ♀️ the prisons Wouldn’t be full to capacity the streets would be safer
