Police spent several hours in attendance at a property in Ryde yesterday (Saturday) following the discovery of the body of an 18-year-old girl.
Officers were called to a residential address on Riboleau Street, alongside the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service, at around 10:30.
By late morning detectives from Newport CID had arrived on scene and a Police presence was seen until around 15:00.
Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that the teenager’s death is not being treated as suspicious.
Her family are being supported by officers at this time.
A file will be prepared for the coroner.
The road was closed for a short time but has since re-opened.

This wasn’t suicide …. I know the family myself and I’ve spoken to them.
As a mum of same aged daughter, my heartfelt condolences go out to family and loved ones. We don’t know how or why this young woman has come to die and making assumptions will only add to family distress and devastation. May she RIP, thoughts with family and loved ones.

Why are assumptions being made about how she died? Someone above has commented that she knew this young lady and she had apparently passed in her sleep.
Please people keep assumptions to yourselves.
The only necessary comments should be offering condolences to her family and friends.
I am a member of the family. She passed away In her sleep. NO suicide attempt. She had no problems or mental health. She was a loving, kind caring person. Who is now a beautiful angel. Xxxx
