The Queen's Platinum Jubilee Official LogoWith just days to go until the country celebrates Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, Island Echo has compiled a list of events and celebrations taking place over the next week.

Islanders are being invited to attend a variety of events including beacon lightings, street fairs and exhibitions. However, organisers of street parties have been told they cannot invite people who do not live on the same road as the party.

Although the Jubilee itself is on Thursday – which is a Bank Holiday in 2022 – a lot of the celebrations are taking place over the long weekend.

Venner Park is in Venner Avenue, Northwood. NOT Sandown.

Where is Venner Avenue in Sandown? No mention of the picnic at Browns Golf in Sandown.

Surprised to See Bembridge will be lighting their beacon at 2045 when it will be broad daylight. All other beacons are to be lit at 2145. Misprint?

There are lots of misprints and spelling mistakes in this article. Doesn’t anyone proof read before publication? A sad state of affairs when the media can’t get it right.

The information is correct. The beacon at Culver is being lit early, to tie in with BBC filming and broadcasting.

Looks like Sandown are holding off until the next one.

They must be the only large (medium, or even small?) town not on the list!

Yes, there are posters all around Sandown for an event at Browns Golf on Sunday afternoon. You can either book a picnic from the cafe or bring your own. Seems like Island Echo aren’t bothered to update this article.
