All students in Years 5 and 6 at Broadlea Primary School in Lake have been sent home following confirmation of a second case of COVID-19 within the school.
Pupils and 3 members of staff have been told they must now self-isolate for 14 days after coming into close contact with the infected child.
The rest of the school remains open as normal.
Multiple schools on the Island have announced a case in its community — including at the Island Innovation VI Form, Medina College, Cowes Enterprise College and Barton Primary School.
Northwood Primary School and Wroxall Primary Schools have also had a COVID-19 positive case in its community but following Public Health England guidance, nobody in either school needs to self-isolate.

This is what happens when a incompetent government can’t work out that schools and collages need to close as well during a lock down.
So says someone who most probably hasn’t had to make an important decision in their life that affects lots of people’s health. Please either stand for political office or shut up
This is not working out well….. At a guess, I’d say there are many more to be sent home.
2 weeks ALL schools will be closed. Fact
Pathetic saying all schools should be shut, thousands of kids missing out on education for no valid reason, it works fine as it is, if there is a risk or case then that class or year stays away, hundreds more can carry on being educated, what else do we do ?, everybody runs away and hides indoors for months ? Crazy
Let’s just hope it don’t happen yours then
Do all the parents and siblings of the children self-isolating also have to self-isolate for 14 days?
Strangely enough no they don’t I have 2 kids in this school and the youngest still goes to school even though he could be taking it in if my eldest has brought it home especially if A symptomatic all siblings in same school should stay away
The Isle of Wight Council have powers to close schools, so come on do the right thing close schools.
As usual too little too late.
It is all going on, soon to be announced.
Now areton primary as well abs yet another case in medina. Eleven settings in a week. This is getting out of hand.
Spare a thought for all of the teachers working 70+ hour weeks.
I’m rather confused that owing to pupils not being in school for the prior 72 hours, at Northwood and Wroxall, nobody has been sent home or has to isolate. It was my belief that you could be infectious for any time period up to approximately 10 to 14 days. I must be missing some logic here!
Schools will be closed within a fortnight here. So, get ready parents to tend & care for your own children 24/7, again.
Just shut them all, get on top of it. Returning through town from an essential shop, town was full of school age kids some with parent some with mates, and that was 10;30am Friday, how many should have been isolating.
Awful to see someone you love dearly drown in their own mucus, so near the vaccine coming to save us all, just because of some dappy child has ‘had’ to glue a few coloured bits of cut paper onto another sheet of such.
The idle parents could do such, IF they put the phone down for a while.
