UPDATED: Yarmouth RNLI have gone to the aid of a yacht that has run aground at Hurst Point this afternoon (Friday).
The volunteer lifeboat crew were paged to launch the all weather lifeboat (ALB) at just before 13:30 after the National Coastwatch Institution alerted HM Coastguard to the yacht’s plight.
The lifeboat is towing the yacht clear.
UPDATE @ 15:37 – As the tide was beginning to come in, the RNLI Lifeboat have managed to help refloat the yacht and after checking that it wasn’t taking on any water, have towed it into Yarmouth Harbour.
Lymington Coastguard Rescue Team were sent to assist in the incident, which was spotted by the NCI and also reported by the vessel’s skipper.
The Needles Coastguard Rescue Team have met the boat at Yarmouth Harbour, where the crew are said to be fine and have not required any medical attention.
