Yarmouth RNLI lifeboat and The Needles Coastguard Rescue Team have been stood down from an incident near Fort Victoria this afternoon (Sunday).
Solent Coastguard tasked the All Weather Lifeboat (ALB) from Yarmouth to launch at around 15:15 following reports of a yacht hard aground around 1/4 nautical miles west of Fort Victoria.
The land-based assistance of Needles CRT was requested also, however, both teams failed to locate any vessel in distress.
The incident has been deemed a false alarm with good intent.
