A 58-year-old woman has sadly died in hospital following a property fire in Newport earlier this month.
Emergency services responded to an address in Pyle Street just after 10:00 on Monday 1st June, as previously reported by Island Echo.
Firefighters rushed into the building equipped with breathing apparatus and rescued a female occupant, who was left with severe burns.
The victim was transferred to Southampton General Hospital and is later understood to have been flown to a specialist unit in Swansea.
Sadly, it has been confirmed by Police that the victim has passed away in hospital.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary has said that the lady’s next of kin have been informed and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
