Police have released a 30-year-old woman, who was arrested as part of an investigation into a bottle attack in Binstead, without charge. As previously reported by Island Echo, Police and paramedics were called to Sherbourne Avenue in Binstead at 18:57 on Tuesday 9th January. It had been reported that a man in his 40s had been assaulted with a glass bottle. The victim was rushed to St Mary’s Hospital by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries. As part of Police enquiries, officers forced entry to an address on nearby Beatrice Close by cutting a front door to pieces. They maintained a scene guard throughout Tuesday night and into Wednesday. No arrests were made, however. Last week, a 30-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and taken into custody for questioning. However, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary says that a full investigation has been carried out and the decision has been made, at this time, to release the woman without charge, pending any further or new information.
