With the forecast for the weekend looking questionable, The Wight Strollers are – as things stand – still planning to go ahead with their Summer Fun Day this Sunday (23rd July).
It’s a first for the company and will be taking place between 10:00 and 16:00 at Rookley Village Hall & Sports Field, with entry just £2 for adults and free for children.
On offer throughout the day by way of entertainment (subject to weather) are Vectis Corps of Drums Marching Band, Mr. Baker’s Dozen Morris Dancers, Jaydene Lee Arts with a dance performance, singers Double Take and Emily Scotcher, Huxley with his close-up magic, and a family fun dog show for anyone with a four-legged friend to enter, plus there will even be a ‘just for fun’ Sports Day!
Ability Dogs 4 Young People, who the Strollers recently supported with their pantomime, ‘Aladdin’, will also be attending, as will Time Jump Histories Knight School, Kitbridge Hollow Riding Academy and Tag Commander Laser Quest, and the Strollers themselves will be offering a host of games and activities including glitter tattoos and ‘Splat the Rat!’
There are also planned to be a host of Island traders attending, including Goose Island Candle Company, Isle Clay, Mummy & Mr. Fox, Make It Wight, Jewellery By Donna, Simply Charmed Earrings IOW, The Moons, Wendy’s Crafts, Tree Tops Beauty, Deejavu Art & Design, Made 4 Keeping, Seacycle Studio, and The 50 Plus Centre.
There will be burgers, ice cream, Pimm’s, cakes, cream teas, tea, coffee and a number of other refreshments also on offer, plus some additional stalls from those who sadly have been unable to attend other events this weekend due to the weather.
Attendees are advised to bring cash, as some of the games and stalls will be cash-only, and are also advised to bring their brollies! There is car parking nearby, in an opposite field, and this will be clearly signposted.
The company will be keeping a watching brief on the weather, so please keep your eyes firmly on their Facebook and Instagram pages for any weather-related announcements on there.
