Who will open the Isle of Wight Festival main stage? Following a successful period of applications from local artists, the Wight Noize shortlist has been announced. On Thursday 25th April, Strings Bar & Venue will play host to the Wight Noize Live Music Showcase, in which 7 successful acts will perform a 20-minute set of original music to an industry panel. The panel will then choose an overall act at the end of the evening, who will have the honour of opening the main stage on the Sunday of the festival. Applicants were required to submit via the Amplead portal, which asked for links to recordings, live videos and social media links. The industry panel have considered all this and have shortlisted these acts to perform at the live showcase: Marnie Marie, Georgia Nicole, Chum, Five Degrees North, Jaded, Amy Jolliffe and Ruby. As well as the winner opening the main stage on Sunday 23rd June, all of the finalists will have the opportunity to play on the Platform One Stage over the weekend. John Giddings, who is one of Platform One’s patrons, has said:
“I am very proud to be a patron of Platform One. I think they do an incredible job of preparing young musicians for the reality of the music industry. I like helping people and my work with Platform One feels the right thing to do – they have integrity, and they are good at what they do.”

What’s the betting that Mr G won’t pay them?
That’s a 100% certainty, sadly.
Yawn.. yet another idea stolen from the best rival…
