40ft of signage on the front of BetFred in Newport has come crashing down, narrowly avoiding causing serious injury to passersby.
Rather bizarrely, the signage fell off without warning at around 11:30 this morning (Thursday), creating a large bang.
One piece of the bright blue panelling has been left hanging, with 3 other large panels laid across the pavement on St James’ Street.
The area has been cordoned off for safety.
BetFred occupies the former Dixons store on St James’ Street, close to McDonalds and next door to CeX.
A Betfred spokesman has said:
“We have immediately launched an investigation.”

The immediate investigation will show a lack of maintenance, investigation solved….I will invoice you shortly….
I wonder what odds I could got on this happening 25 to 1 maybe
I bet they never saw that coming – I bet!!!
Next time use BET-ERR fixings
next time hire someone who will ensure it will never happen, with a 500 year garuntee!! not an odd ball!! lol
The vibration caused by that copper thumping the man in the face just yards from here the other day loosened it !

Which bit is bizarre, the fact the sign did not give written or formal notice that it was going to fall off or the fact it created a large bang! Perhaps it was the fact it was 11.30 and not 11.45am – That must be it, it fell off early.
