A yellow weather warning for torrential rain has been issued by IW Met Service for Wednesday morning, with Islanders alerted to a risk of flash flooding.
It’s said that an area of rain will move in from the South West overnight tonight into tomorrow morning, with locally torrential downpours embedded.
Once the main area of rainfall clears the Isle of Wight will see further heavy, short-lived downpours for a time.
Rainfall totals will be highly variable with 10-12mm in some spots, but as high as 30-40mm locally in other areas – all falling in a fairly short space of time.
The warning is in force from 22:00 tonight until 07:00 tomorrow morning.
Island residents should be aware of the risk of localised flash flooding in the usual prone locations, along with possible breaching of river banks where the rain is more persistent.
If drains were cleared on a regular basis that would help the
cause, also over the years so many households have
tarmaced or concreted over their gardens creating more
water to run into Streets and Roads.
Yes this is true about gardens getting covered over but it can only be expected for more to do it with this usless council put yellow lines over streets for no reason whatsoever
then they haven’t got the guts to irder island roads to keep the drains clear
they let big house builders cut away trees with out any thought of what they alow. Useless incompetent bunch.
For a small island there are far too many vehicles
cluttering up our Streets.
If IW Council rolled out islandwide parking
permit charges there would be less vehicles on
our streets.
This council is useless at creating extra revenue.
