The popular Ability Dogs 4 Young People Gala Weekend has been rescheduled due to this weekend’s weather forecast.
The new Gala Weekend event will now take place on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th June 2025, instead of this coming weekend.
As such, the charity is calling on the Island community to adjust their calendars and come along to join the celebrations.
Carol Court, Charity Founder and CEO, said:
“We’ve made the difficult decision to reschedule this weekend’s Ability Dogs Gala Weekend to the new dates of Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th June, 2025.
“The weather is just looking too changeable and unsettled, and while we know many people were really looking forward to it (so were we!), it just felt too risky to go ahead. We want the weekend to be fun and safe for everyone involved.”
The Gala Weekend is one of the Charity’s key annual fundraising events and a chance for the community to come together and meet the dogs, volunteers, and team behind the life-changing work of Ability Dogs 4 Young People.
Carol went on to say:
“Our Gala Weekend is so important to us — not just as a wonderful event, but as a vital fundraiser that helps us train more life-changing Ability Dogs.
“We’d be incredibly grateful if you could stick with us, spread the word, and join us on the new dates. With your support, we can still make it a brilliant success.”
The event will still feature all the usual highlights and attractions the community has come to love. The new dates will go ahead whatever the weather, with only minor tweaks if needed.

Well done, good to see there are some brains on the
Island.
Such a shame the Round The Island boat race have not
rescheduled, they obviously ain’t read the weather forecast.
Good plan! An international event that probably takes a year to organise. “Sorry guys the wind will blow tomorrow, postponed until the sunshines”.
Why turn up if is postponed, also why
risk the lives of Emergency services if persons
need rescuing
