The Wayfarers Cycletouring Club raised £14,000 from this year’s Randonnee to be shared between 7 Island charities.
What is believed to be the biggest free cycling event in the UK, and possibly Europe, this year’s event was held on Sunday 30th April with some 3,000 riders taking part.
Last year, the Wayfarers raised £8,00 which was split between 4 Island charities; Motor Neuron Disease Association, Wessex Cancer Trust, Isle Access and Aspire so this year’s fundraising represents a significant increase.
Vic Mann and Hilary Searle from the Wayfarers Cycletouring Club – which is celebrating their 40th anniversary this year – were delighted to hand over a cheque for £1,000 to Karen Eels of Aspire recently.
Vic said:
“It is the Wayfarers 40th anniversary this year, so we are doubly pleased to be helping local causes.”
