Colleagues from the Currys and PC World stores in Newport are trekking around the Isle of Wight this week whilst carrying kitchen appliances to raise vital funds for the Island’s independent lifeboat organisations.
The team set off from Wakes Retail Park yesterday (Sunday) carrying a fridge freezer, washing machine, microwave, kettle and toaster, making exceptional progress by arriving in Ryde just before midday. Stopping for a bite to eat at The King Lud, the fundraisers met with Ryde Inshore Rescue – one of the recipients of the fundraising efforts.
After kipping down at Priory Bay overnight, the trek continues today with the team and their white goods now heading for Ventnor, where they will stop off tonight before continuing to Blackgang tomorrow and onwards to the West Wight on Wednesday. The fundraising walk ends on Friday.
An in-store raffle is being held to win a variety of goods including a fridge freezer, a computer monitor and even a Dyson bladeless fan. Tickets are priced at just £1 and are available in the store at Newport.
