Autumnal conditions being experienced across the Isle of Wight this week are set to worsen as the day goes on with a yellow weather warning for heavy rain issued for this afternoon (Wednesday).
IW Met Service says that a large band of rain will push in from the West through this afternoon and evening, some of which will be very heavy and persistent.
20-30mm of rain is expected to fall in some parts, perhaps even a little higher locally.
The worst of the weather is likely to hit late this afternoon, ahead of rush hour.
Islanders are warned of the risk of localised flooding along with surface water on the roads, leading to dangerous travelling conditions. There is the potential for soil, silt and stones being washed across footpaths and roads too.
Polluted stormwater could affect local beaches.
The warning is in force from 13:00 until 23:59 today.

This is the issue. It costs less for them to keep paying the fines than it does to modernise and maintain their equipment to prevent such occurrences, so there is no actual incentive to make the well needed changes.
Does that mean we can fine or jail the Idiots who collect the waste,
