An itinerate group of veteran rugby players – The Nags – have raised over £6,000 for Cancer Research UK by walking around the Island.
The walk took most of the Nags 2 days, but some managed it in 3 – between drinking and singing sessions.
The fundraisers camped at Ventnor Rugby Club’s Watcombe Bottom as they completed the walk over the long Bank Holiday weekend.
The Nags originate mostly in Wales and were organised by Ventnor Rugby Club’s Neil Evans. They have been fundraising for Cancer Research UK for over 10 years and raised an amazing £200,000. To date, they have played rugby, canoed rivers and climbed mountains.
Anyone wishing to donate to Cancer Research UK can do so at https://fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/donate/e0c67d90-3a13-4833-9480-5c8105cf0a8e/details.
The Nags’ next trek will be The Malvern March.
