Yarmouth RNLI lifeboat has towed a vessel into deep water after it washed ashore at Brambles Chine in the West Wight this morning (Sunday).
Solent Coastguard requested the launch of the All Weather Lifeboat from Yarmouth at just before 11:30 following reports of a yacht drifting in the vicinity of Hurst Straight.
The vessel soon washed ashore on the beach at Brambles Chine, changing the dynamic of the operation and leading to The Needles Coastguard Rescue Team being mobilised to the scene.
Yarmouth Lifeboat’s Y-Boat was launched to get the volunteer crew safely onto the beach to secure a tow line. With success, the vessel was towed clear of the shore and into deeper water.
The casualty vessel, which had broken away in rough conditions, along with its mooring, was towed back to Keyhaven.
Yarmouth Lifeboat has now returned to Yarmouth Harbour and Needles CRT have stood down.
