When a group of young Ventnorians set out to create a permanent home for Ventnor Fringe in the town all year round, they could never have imagined what came next. Now, a decade later, the team behind Ventnor Exchange are celebrating a milestone anniversary!
Co-Director Mhairi Macaulay explains:
“Today Ventnor Exchange is a thriving hub of workshops, clubs, socials, a record store, a performance space, and co-working space.
Article continues below this advertisement “The organisation also reaches out across the whole Island with a mission to create cultural experiences available for all.”
It has certainly been a journey since the team opened the doors of the Old Post Office, reimagined as a unique combined concept that people really got behind and supported.
Since 2014, Ventnor Exchange has gradually refurbished the post office building on Church Street, hosted hundreds of events in Ventnor and around the Island, instigated and invited numerous creative clubs and groups, commissioned new works, as well as operating as a cafe and craft beer bar open 7 days a week.
In honour of this special occasion, there will be a very special fundraising ‘£10 for 10 years Raffle’ with prizes generously donated by local businesses.
Ventnor Exchange is a non profit community interest company, so all funds generated are invested back into creating more cultural experiences and opportunities.
There is also a day of performances celebrating Ventnor Exchange’s birthday on Saturday the 30th showcasing some of the creative groups that meet in the space.
Co-Director Jack Whitewood adds:
“Ventnor Exchange means many things to many people, so let’s get together to look back on the amazing creative experiences we’ve had and look forward to what comes next…”
